Faint stars were now visible across Cyrstal Lake. The orange/ pink glow of the faiding sun that shone around the boarder was giving way the the clear black pelt of night. Sitting alone, benieth the milky twilight, was a brown tabby cat, her jade green eyes adjusting to darkness. Jadeflower The name suited her. She was as beautiful as a wild flower, especially her eyes. Those bright jade pools. But now, Jadeflowers eyes were filled with sadness. It had been nearly 8 moons since she joined Mistclan. Nearly 8 moons since she had left her mother, Marina. Marina had walked through her dream for the last 4 days. Why was her mother haunting her so much now? Jadeflower had to leave! She was sufficating her, controlling every part of her life! Her father left because of her, she had no friends because of her, it was all Marina's fault! Still, Jadeflower missed her mother. Missed her voice, missed their moments of friendship, even missed her sent. That warm sent she had known for so many moons. So, Jadeflower sat alone on a lone boulder, facing Crystal Lake. A small tear rolled down her face.

Suddenly, a handsome red-tabby tom with a long, feathery tail, came padding over to her. It was Longfeather. He sat down beside Jadeflower. Silence fell over the two for what felt like an eternity. Finally, the warrior meowed, "What's wrong?" It was a simple question, but meant alot. He had noticed the singal tear roll down her face.

If it were anyother cat, Jadeflower would have told them to mind theirown buissness but she couldn't for Longfeather. They were friends, he was her only friend. She just smiled weakly at him as he approached. "Hello Longfeather." She mewed, whipping away her tear. She flicked her ear at his question and looked away. "I was just thinking about my mother... it's been almost 8 moons since I left her you know."

"Hello Longfeather." "I was just thinking about my mother... it's been almost 8 moons since I left her you know." Longfeather moved closer, trying to comfort her in her time of need. He nodded and sighed. "It must be hard...but at least you have the Clan...and me..." he mewed softly to her. The red-tabby looked up at the sky; Silverpelt glowed brightly.

Jadeflower nodded, but she doughted she had the clans support. Most of the warriors would rather see her go back and live in the allies where she'd grown up. But she knew Longfeather was right. She looked up at the star. Her mother had told her they were falen cats too. It had given her comfort to know the clans believed their ansestors lived in the sky as shinning stars. "Thanks." She mewed quietly, flicking her brown striped tail.

"Thanks." Longfeather didn't pull his gaze away from the star-strewn sky as he replied, "I'll always be here for you, just call my name and I'll be there." He turned his warm gaze to her and smiled simply.

Jadeflower turned her gaze to Longfeather, smiling. "I know." She mewed, looking back at the sky. "What would I do without you?"

"I know." "What would I do without you?" Longfeather looked away. A long silence fell, until, finally, he meowed, "You tell me." The red-tabby tom couldn't hide his feeling anymore. He liked Jadeflower...alot.

Jadeflower looked back at Longfeather, a little confused. "What do you-" She cut off, looking into his eyes. There seemed to be something about them that she hadn't seen before. Love? No. No cat could love a rouge like her, even Longfeather.

"What do you-" Longfeather gazed into her beautiful jade-green eyes and nodded. A understanding seemed to pass through them silently. He prayed to StarClan that she felt the same way about him.

"Longfeather.... I... I don't know what to... Really?" She doesn't love me?! He gulped, feeling embarrassed about what he had thought. The warrior slowly got up. "I'm...Uh...Sorry..." he stampered. The cresten-fallen tom turned and started to head back to MistClan camp, thinking he was very foolish.

"Longfeather wait!" Jadeflower called after him, feeling foolish herself. She hadn't ment to her hurt him. She just couldn't imagen someone loving her. She bounded after him panting as she reached him. "I'm sorry. It's just everyone I care about seems to leave me as soon I start to really care about them. Everyone. My father left me and my mother. A few kitty-pets I used to be friends with ignored me as soon as they found out I was a rouge." A tear was rolling down her cheek. "I just don't want it to happen with us or with Mistclan. I don't want to get my heart broken again."

"Longfeather wait!" The tom stopped, a look of confusion on his face.
"I'm sorry. It's just everyone I care about seems to leave me as soon I start to really care about them. Everyone. My father left me and my mother. A few kitty-pets I used to be friends with ignored me as soon as they found out I was a rouge." "I just don't want it to happen with us or with Mistclan. I don't want to get my heart broken again."
Longfeather walked over to her and nudged her cheek, a purr rumbling from his chest. "You won't...I promise," he whispered softly. Warm amber eyes looked into Jadeflower's.

Jadeflower looked back into Longfeathers eyes, a small smile appearing on her face. She burried her face into his fur, trying to stop crying. "I hope you're right." She murmered.
