Shadepaw lay in the dully lit den, her blue eyes distant. It had been five days since she was taken by Furyclan. Five days away from her father. Five days in the small bramble lined den. She sighed.
The den was rather uninviting. It's walls were made of bramble. It was small, scarcley large enough for a full grown warrior to stand at their full height, although this made Shadepaw pleased she was just a short apprentice. The Medicine cat, Rain, had given her some moss to make a nest in, though Shadepaw hadn't. She just kept hoping she wouldn't have to, that at any moment Dustfoot's head would appear through the bramble enterance and tell her she was going home. But her hope was growing dimmer with each day that passed.
She twitched her paw as a fly landed on it, and the pain cut through her trail of thought. It still hurt to move her paw. Shadepaw drew it closer and looked at it. It did look better then it did the first day she came into Furyclan camp, though it was still swollen and red. She lowered it slowly to the ground, not wanting to look at it. With another sigh, she resumed staring out of the small enterance, as though her stare could speed up her fathers arrivel. Perhaps they weren't coming. Perhaps Treeclan, or worse, Dustfoot had abandoned her.

The black and white pelt of Fernleaf shuddered. As shadepaw's mother, she decided to see if her daughter was ok. She stood up, stretched luxuriously. It was a warm promising morning, and she walked slowly into the apprentices den.
"Shadepaw- are you...okay?" she whispered, with concernly.

"Oh yeah. I'm just wonderful!" Shadepaw mewed sarcasticly, turning and glaring at the black and white Furyclan warrior. She turned her head away from Fernleaf and rested it on her good paw. Her long brown tail was flicking back and forth, her anger bubbling. It was bad enough Furyclan was holding her prisoner, they didn't have to patronize her with pointless questions like 'are you ok?'. Ofcoarse she wasn't ok! Her paw was swelled up like an over ripe berry and she was being held against her will in an enemy clan.
