A dark shape moved against the greenage. A flash of golden eyes peered in the darkness. Fear-scent filled the air, fear-scent of a kitten. Her black fur was bristling, and hackles were raised. The water, she had fallen into the water. The young kitten barely made it out. Her pelt was soaked to the bone, showing how skinny she was. What if she has the chill now?

Hissing at a nearby bug she swatted at it before dashing out of the ferns. Pressing her body down against the earth she hissed as it followed it. Eve didn't need this bug's crap right now. Swatting at it again she sliced it in two. Thats what it got for messing with her. Shaking her pelt Eve kept away from the river, shivering in fear and in hate. Eve was curious about water, and now she seemed not to like it much. Where was she anyway? This wasn't a place she had ever been to.

Shadowstar was patroling the boarder when she smelt it. The strong fear-sent of a kit. She'd perked her ears in the direction of the sent and heard a faint splashing sound. Slowly, she Darkclan leader slunk towards the sent, keeping to the shadows. She peared out for behind a holly bush to see a black kit, soaking wet. She took a deep breath, trying to see if she could recognize the sent, but it was unfamillair to her. Slowly, she emerged out of the shadows of the holly bush, her blazing amber eyes staring at the kit.

Her body was still shaking with fear. Golden opticals had several flecks of silver to them. She was afraid yet calm at the same time. Nostrils flared, catching the scent of another cat. Who was this? Searching the bushes she saw no one yet. Suddenly a large black she-cat appeared.

"Who is you?" she asked in a brave voice. She wasn't afraid...or maybe she was. Eve gulped and started licking her fur. She hated doing it but she didn't want to catch chill. Seeing she could just talk to the big lady she stopped and left her pelt alone.

squirrelflight was hunting, when she smelt kit fear scent. and she saw shadowstar pull out one. "Oh my - starclan help the poor thing!" she gasped at the little black thing. she didnt recognize the scent though, and stared at it feeling so sorry for her.

I'm Shadowstar." The slim, black she-cat mewed in a calm and not-unfriendly voice. She looked over at Squrrielflight, flicking her tail in acknoledgement(sp?). "Ofcoarse we'll help her." She mewed back, her voice a little more hostile. What does she think I'd do? Leave the kit here to die of Green-cough? She looked back at the kit. "What's you name little one?"

She waited patiently for the reply. Another she-cat had appeared, and she smelt like the big black she-cat. Eve licked one of her paws and bit off a leech. Spitting it out she licked her paw again.

I'm Shadowstar."
"Oh my - starclan help the poor thing!"
"What's you name little one?"

Eve looked at 'Shadowstar' and the other she-cat. She coughed softly before shaking her head, she couldn't get sick now! "Eve is what my mummy called me...Eve," she repeated her name twice incase on the of the she-cats didn't hear her. Poor little thing? She sneezed again, great she was sick.

Squirrelflight came over next to shadowstar. "Eve, lovely name. is your mother still alive?" Squirrelflight said to the kit more gently than she'd normally be.

Eve was feeling sick to her stomach. Had she caught something like her mother did? Her mother had caught a disease, one she didn't know of...or maybe it wasn't a disease. She watched the two she-cats carefully, golden opticals slowly turning silver.

"Eve, lovely name. is your mother still alive?"

"Thanks...no she die," she said, feeling like she could tell the she-cat about her mother. Sneezing again she shivered and curled up, putting her paws beneath her.

"Aww, Shadowstar, should take her back to camp? Shes so inacent." Squirrelflight looked at her leader with pleading eyes.

Shadowstar looked back at Squirrelflight, then to Eve. "If she wants to come with us, I see no problem with that." She mewed, her voice calm and cool once again. She heared Eve sneezing. "And I suggest you find her some Catmint quickly. If she's coming back with us, I doen't want the other kits to get sick aswell."

"Aww, Shadowstar, should take her back to camp? Shes so inacent."

Go back to camp? Did the she-cat mean come back to their home? Eve wanted that, that would be nice for her. Her throat felt itchy, and sore. Was she getting mother's sickness? Eve wished she knew what it was. Her chest hurt too, and it was a bit hard to breathe.

"If she wants to come with us, I see no problem with that."
"And I suggest you find her some Catmint quickly. If she's coming back with us, I doen't want the other kits to get sick aswell."

"Me wanna come," she meowed getting up and trotting up to the black she-cat. What was Catmint? Something for her sickness? She coughed and sputtered, all she wanted to know what it was called, so she knew what her mother died from.

A thin smile appeared on Shadowstars face when Eve trotted over to her. "You'll need a clan named then" She mewed. "Come on then, lets go back to camp. I think the Medicine cat has some Catmint back at camp." She turned and padded back towards camp, signalling with her tail for Squirrelflight and Eve to follow.

"Okay..." she mewed softly, not really objecting. A clan name, but would she still be able to be called Eve? Eve liked her name, so maybe it would be her nickname. Some Catmint sounded nice to her. What was a Medicine cat anyway? That kind of cat sounded special.
